Kim Nortz

Kim has worked with people with disabilities for over 20 years. She has served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at Worker's Compensation Fund for 9 1/2 years.

She holds a bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure, emphasis in recreational therapy from the University of Utah (1984). In 2002 Kim graduated with an master's in rehabilitation counseling from Utah State University. She holds CRC and CDMS certifications.

Kim is married and has one 21 year old son. Her household includes two dobermans who think they are teacup poodles and one very noisy bird. In her precious spare time she enjoys cooking, entertaining, working out, walking and hiking in the outdoors, reading, and going to movies and plays.

Kent graduated from the Utah State University Masters Rehabilitation Counseling program in December 2000. During his time in Logan he worked at Options for Independence Living Center as Assistive Technology Coordinator. In 2001 he started working for the Utah Center for Assistive Technology (UCAT) in Salt Lake City. He is the Lead Rehabilitation Technology Specialist and runs the shop at UCAT creating, building, modifying, and doing evaluations of Assistive Technology devices. Kent has been serving as secretary for the Utah Rehabilitation Association since 2002.

I was born and raised in Iowa but have lived my adult life in either Idaho or Utah. I have worked for USU for ten years, the last five years for the RCE program as the Practicum and Internship Coordinator/Supervisor. I enjoy getting to know and working with the students both on campus and in our long distance program. It is particularly rewarding to assist our unemployed students obtain their "perfect" job match.

Serving on the URA board has expanded my professional horizons. I appreciate my association with all of the board members. Everyone should try it! I have enjoyed serving as the URA Treasure for four years. The budget is in great shape this year. New members should be sure to take advantage of our $50 membership fee rebate.

I am grateful to be the mother of five children and grandmother to 3 precious perfect grandchildren. (Those of you who are grandparents know what I mean ;-) My hobbies and interests include reading, sewing (especially designing and sewing beautiful modest formal gowns and wedding dresses for my daughters), 4-H, cooking, gardening, camping, heritage arts and spending time with family. Dirk was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. He recieved his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Utah State University, where he went on to complete a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. He has worked for the state of Utah as a rehabilitation counselor for five years, currently working in the Logan office.

Dr. Eldredge was professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Northern Colorado from 1966 to 1990, at which time he became the director of the Rehabilitation Counseling program at Utah State University. He previously served as a board member of the Utah Rehabilitation Association from 1990 to 2001. He also served as a board member of the Colorado Rehabilitaiton Association from 1970 to 1990. He served as the administrative secretary of the National Council on Rehabilitation (NCRE) from 1991 to 2001. He served as the NCRE representative to the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) from 1994 to 2000.

Dr. Eldredge retired from Utah State University in 2001 and left for a two year LDS Church Humanitarian assignment to Hyderabad, India. While in India, he and his wife taught classes in Rehabilitation Psychology, Community Rehabilitation, Special Education, and Speech-Language Pathology at three different institutions. Their Indian students were bachelor's and master's degree level students.

Christine previously worked for the University of Utah for 11 years most recently as a counselor with the Center for Disability Services. She had a general caseload in addition to her responsibilities as the Learning Disabilities Specialist. Previous university experience involved managerial responsibilities including enrollment and registration, space utilization, and overseeing scheduling of campus activities and reservations for non campus community agencies including film companies. In addition, Christine is a Certified Child Life Specialist assisting children and families with the psychosocial issues of hospitalization. hospital experience: the emergency department, medical surgery unit, and Neuroscience/ Rehabilitation unit at Primary Children's Medical Center. Christine is a member of the National Child Life Council, Utah Association of Higher Education and Disability, NRA, NRCA, ACA, and ARCA. University committees include University Academic Advising Committee and Student Affairs Professional Development Committee. To increase activity and leadership opportunities for students, she created the official campus organization for students with disabilities at the University of Utah and serves as advisor to activities sponsored by the group including Disability Awareness Week, advocacy opportunities, and disability forums. She enjoys singing, supporting fine arts productions of symphony and theater, traveling (her husband works for Continental Airlines), reading a good book, and spending time with family.

Christine Anderson graduated from Utah State University's RCE program in 2001. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Disability Disciplines: Rehabiliation Counseling from Utah State University.

Jared Schultz

Jared has recently joined the rehabilitation counseling faculty at Utah State (Fall 2004). He received his Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado, and spent almost four years at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center on faculty in the rehabilitation counseling program.

He was raised in Oregon, has a wife (Deeann) and four daughters, McKenzie (9), Allyson (6), Haylee (4), and Madelyn (2). He enjoys playing guitar and fly fishing. He is also starting to develop some woodworking hobbies. To learn more about Dr. Schultz click here.
